Often times, companies lose millions when their sensitive and high-value stock is damaged in transit or during storage. This is why a good supply chain provider must take the protection of your sensitive and valuable stock as a priority.
Here are few pointers on what to discuss with your supply chain/logistics provider to avoid or, at the very least, minimize damages to your sensitive and high-value goods.
- The desired temperature of your stock especially if it spoils once temperatures drop or rise beyond certain levels.
- All the conditions required for your sensitive or high-value stock to remain safe during transit and storage. For instance, is there need for strapping, cushioning, banding, corner boards or shrink-wrapping? Is stacking okay during storage? What about storing other goods below or above them? Is same room storage with other goods okay or not?
- Labelling for easy identification to indicate special handling for fragile stock.
- The ability to monitor your stock remotely; for instance, if your stock is temperature sensitive, are you able to monitor temperature variations at the warehouse without leaving your office desk or living room?
- Liability insurance policies to protect you in case of damages and losses.
The above issues aside, keep in mind that other safety challenges can arise any time, anywhere. Always choose a logistics partner you trust to deliver on their promises. After all, it is the survival of your company at stake, so ensure that your sensitive and high-value stock is in good hands. #beyondlogistics
